Fish Publishing One Page Competition. I was final judge this year, and much enjoyed mulling over the 24 excellent pieces I was sent by the readers… out of a field of over 1000. I am also writing a post-script for the Fish Prizewinners’ Anthology 2008

Anam Cara Writer's and Artist's Retreat: I spent twelve days in my favourite place, in the company of fellow Fish Prizewinner, Jo Campbell.

First Prize in The Daily Telegraph Novel Competition, with the first thousand words and short synopsis of Boy in the Tunnel. The prize is a serious golden ticket as in Charlie and the Chocolate factory... a chance to meet and talk to the judging panel (Sam Leith the Telegraph's Literary Editor, literary agent Antony Harwood, Novelist Louise Doughty and Commissioning Editor for Simon and Shuster, Rochelle Venables) over lunch. Said lunch to be held in September.
